Christian Studies O'Level Requirements: Subjects and Credits to Review
Contents
O'Level Requirements for Christian Studies
Your UTME subjects are only one part of the admission process. Candidates seeking Christian Studies must also make sure that their O'Level result contains the credits and subjects required by the institution they intend to choose.
Look Beyond the Number of Credits
Having the required number of credits is important, but the individual subjects matter as well. A candidate can have several credits and still need to check whether the subjects satisfy the course requirement.
English Language
English Language is a key part of university admission requirements. Candidates should check their SSCE result and confirm the required credit before applying.
Relevant Arts Subjects
Christian Studies falls under the Arts/Humanities section of the JAMB brochure. Candidates should therefore pay attention to the relevant Arts subjects required by their preferred institution.
Christian Religious Studies
Because Christian Studies deals with Christianity, CRS is an academically relevant subject. However, candidates should not automatically assume that the O'Level requirements for Christian Religious Knowledge/Studies are identical to those for Christian Studies.
The Three Institutions
The brochure lists Ajayi Crowther University, the University of Ilorin and Kwara State University for Christian Studies. Candidates should check the O'Level condition attached to the particular university they select.
What to Examine on Your Result
- English Language credit
- Relevant Arts subjects
- Christian Religious Studies where required
- Total number of required credits
- Number of sittings accepted by the institution
Why Similar Courses Can Cause Confusion
Christian Studies and Christian Religious Knowledge/Studies may sound interchangeable in ordinary conversation, but JAMB treats them as separate course entries. Candidates should therefore use the requirement attached to the exact course they selected.
Check Your Result Before Applying
Review your WAEC, NECO, NABTEB or other accepted O'Level result carefully. If the subjects do not appear to match the university's requirement, it is better to clarify the issue before submitting an application.
For a complete admission cross-check, candidates may also consult the document below and compare the relevant course information with their O'Level qualifications.
