Communication and Language Arts at the University of Ibadan
The University of Ibadan (IBADAN) is the institution listed for Communication and Language Arts in the JAMB Arts/Humanities brochure. Candidates applying for the programme should pay close attention to the university-specific conditions attached to the course.
UTME Subjects
The course requires any three Arts or Social Science subjects for UTME. Candidates should ensure that their selected subjects fall within the stated categories before completing registration.
O'Level Requirements
IBADAN requires five O'Level credit passes at one sitting or six credit passes at two sittings.
The credits must include English Language and Literature in English, together with any other three or four subjects from Arts, Social Sciences or Sciences.
The brochure specifically states that Government and Economics are not considered Arts subjects for this requirement.
Direct Entry Through A' Level
IBADAN accepts two A' Level passes to include Literature in English and one other Arts or Social Science subject.
Direct Entry Through ND
The university also accepts ND Upper Credit in Mass Communication, provided the candidate has an O'Level credit pass in Literature in English.
Special Consideration
The ND Upper Credit Mass Communication provision is the notable IBADAN special consideration under Communication and Language Arts. It gives candidates with the specified Mass Communication qualification a recognised Direct Entry route into the programme, subject to the stated O'Level condition.
