Creative Arts O'Level requirements for Art/Humanities admission

The general O'Level requirement shown with the Creative Arts entry is five SSCE credit passes including English Language and Fine Arts.

The brochure also provides an alternative structure for candidates holding NTC qualifications. Relevant subjects may include areas such as General Woodwork, Building/Engineering Drawing, Decorative Painting, Graphic Design, Graphic Printing, Ceramics, Spinning, Weaving, Surface Design and Printing, among other listed technical and creative subjects.

University-Specific Variations

The O'Level conditions can differ for institutions within the Creative Arts-related entry.

At University of Lagos (LAGOS), the requirements differ according to the option. Theatre Arts requires five O'Level credits in English Language, Literature in English, Mathematics and any other two subjects, one of which must be an Arts subject. For Music, the requirement includes English Language, Mathematics, two Arts subjects, which may include Music, and any other subject. For Visual Arts, it includes English Language, Mathematics, two Arts subjects, which may include Fine Arts, Visual Arts, Photography, Craft Practice, Dyeing and Bleaching, or Painting and Decoration, and any other subject.

At University of Port Harcourt (PHC), candidates require five O'Level credits in English Language and any four subjects from the specified list, including Literature in English, History/Government, CRK/IRK, Economics, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, Agricultural Science, Physics, Igbo/Hausa/Yoruba, Fine Art, Geography and Commerce.

For University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), the brochure specifies five O'Level credit passes including English Language, Fine and Applied Arts and one Science subject. Candidates with NBC/NTC are required to have credits including English Language, Technical Drawing, Painting and Decorating and a Science subject.

These variations show why a general Creative Arts requirement should not be treated as a universal requirement for every institution. The exact university and option should determine the O'Level conditions you use.
