Direct Entry candidate applying for admission to study Law
Direct Entry provides an alternative route into the LLB programme for candidates who already possess relevant advanced qualifications. The general Direct Entry requirements for Law include: 1. Two A' Level passes in Arts or Social Science subjects. 2. NCE, ND or First Degree with at least Second Class Lower. Individual universities may apply additional conditions to the qualifications they accept for Direct Entry. Some institutions accept qualifications such as Diploma in Law, HND, NCE, ND, First Degree, JUPEB or IJMB, subject to their stated requirements. AAU does not accept Diploma or NCE for Direct Entry into Law and accepts only a First Degree with at least Second Class Lower in addition to the UTME requirements. ABU accepts two A' Level/IJMB passes in English Literature and other Arts or Social Science subjects. It also accepts an ABU Diploma in Law or an ABU Diploma in Shari'ah and Civil Law with at least Merit Grade. ABUAD accepts excellent passes in JUPEB subjects. Other universities have specific conditions relating to their Direct Entry applicants. Some may require particular grades, relevant qualifications or additional O'Level credits. Candidates should therefore check the Direct Entry requirements of their preferred university before applying, because the qualification accepted by one institution may differ from the qualification accepted by another.
