English and International Studies Direct Entry requirements for Art/Humanities candidates

Direct Entry candidates seeking admission for English and International Studies should pay particular attention to the qualifications attached to the exact course entry. In the supplied JAMB admission information, the Direct Entry conditions are provided for UNIOSUN.

Direct Entry Qualifications

The course entry provides two routes. Candidates may have:

  • Two A' Level passes to include Literature in English and Government or History.
  • NCE in English, Political Science, History or Social Studies.

These qualifications are attached to the English and International Studies entry for UNIOSUN.

The A' Level Route

The A' Level option specifically requires two passes, with Literature in English and Government or History forming the subjects identified in the entry.

Candidates using this route should therefore ensure that the subjects on their A' Level qualification correspond with the combination provided for the course.

The NCE Route

The brochure also recognises NCE in English, Political Science, History or Social Studies as a Direct Entry qualification for the course.

This is an institution-specific course entry, so candidates should not automatically apply this NCE provision to another programme with a similar name.

Special Direct Entry Consideration

The same course entry also provides additional Direct Entry consideration. UNIOSUN accepts A' Level passes in Literature in English and one other Arts subject in addition to the UTME requirements. It also accepts candidates with ND lower credit or NCE merit, or an approved equivalent, in Mass Communication or Theatre Arts.

These are important institution-specific conditions and should not be generalised to other English-related programmes.

At a Glance

  • Two A' Level passes: Literature in English and Government or History.
  • NCE: English, Political Science, History or Social Studies.
  • Additional consideration: A' Level passes in Literature in English and another Arts subject, subject to the stated UTME requirements.
  • Other accepted qualification: ND lower credit, NCE merit or approved equivalent in Mass Communication or Theatre Arts.

Preparing for Direct Entry

Direct Entry applicants should identify UNIOSUN's exact English and International Studies entry when assessing their eligibility. The additional qualifications and special consideration are part of that particular course entry and should not be mixed with requirements belonging to English Language or other programmes.
