History and Archaeology Direct Entry and Special Consideration Guide
Contents
The detailed Arts/Humanities admission table presents Archaeology/History with Ahmadu Bello University (ABU). The special Direct Entry information displayed with the Archaeology entry includes conditions for ABU, the University of Ibadan, the University of Jos and the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, but those additional conditions belong to the respective Archaeology institutions and should not be transferred automatically to History and Archaeology at ABU.
ABU's Special Direct Entry Conditions
For ABU, the brochure states acceptance of two A' Level/IJMB passes in Geography, Biology, History or any other subject. It also accepts NCE with a minimum of Merit and an ABU Diploma in related subjects.
Do Not Transfer Other Universities' Conditions
The same table separately states that:
- University of Ibadan accepts A' Level passes in any two Arts subjects.
- University of Jos accepts NCE Merit or ND lower credit.
- UNN requires two A' Level passes or ND/HND credit or NCE merit together with the applicable UTME requirements.
These conditions are attached to the Archaeology institutions named in the table and should not be presented as additional requirements for ABU's History and Archaeology entry.
Combined Programme Consideration
The continuation of the admission table also states that candidates combining Archaeology with Science or Social Sciences must satisfy the requirements applicable to the respective programmes.
What ABU Candidates Should Do
History and Archaeology candidates should focus on the conditions attached to ABU and the exact programme entry. This prevents requirements from another Archaeology or History-related programme from being incorrectly applied.
