Direct Entry Requirement for Islamic Law/Sharia Law

Candidates who already possess an appropriate advanced qualification may seek admission into Islamic Law/Sharia Law through Direct Entry. The general Direct Entry requirement is:
  • Two (2) A' Level passes to include Islamic Studies or Arabic.
This means that the candidate must have two A' Level passes, with Islamic Studies or Arabic included among the required passes.

ABU Direct Entry Consideration

Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) has an additional Direct Entry provision for the programme. ABU accepts:
  • Two (2) A' Level/IJMB passes in IRK/Arabic and any other Arts or Social Science subjects.
  • ABU Diploma in Shari'ah and Civil Law with at least Merit Grade.

O'Level Requirement for Direct Entry Candidates

Direct Entry candidates must also satisfy the required O'Level conditions. The stated O'Level requirement is five credit passes in Arts or Social Sciences to include English Language and Islamic Studies or Arabic.

Programme Duration

The LLB law programme has a minimum duration of four years for candidates admitted through Direct Entry, subject to the applicable university requirements.

Before Applying

Candidates should confirm the Direct Entry requirements of their chosen institution before submitting an application. Where a university has a specific Direct Entry provision, candidates should ensure that they meet that institution's stated condition.
