JAMB UTME Subjects for Islamic Law/Sharia Law

Candidates seeking admission into Islamic Law/Sharia Law through UTME should select the appropriate subjects during JAMB registration. The required UTME combination is:
  • Use of English
  • Any three (3) Arts or Social Science subjects including Arabic or Islamic Studies
This means that candidates are expected to take Use of English together with three other relevant Arts or Social Science subjects. Arabic or Islamic Studies must be included among the three additional subjects.

Understanding the Subject Combination

The programme is closely related to law, Islamic jurisprudence and the study of Islamic legal principles. For this reason, the combination allows candidates to select relevant subjects from the Arts and Social Sciences while requiring Arabic or Islamic Studies. Candidates should pay particular attention to the requirement because Arabic or Islamic Studies is specifically included in the stated combination.

Use of English

Use of English is required as part of the UTME subject combination. Candidates should therefore ensure that it is included when registering for JAMB.

Arabic or Islamic Studies

One of the three additional Arts or Social Science subjects must be Arabic or Islamic Studies. Candidates should not leave out this requirement when selecting their UTME subjects.

Important Advice for Candidates

Before submitting a JAMB application, candidates should carefully check that their four selected UTME subjects satisfy the combination for Islamic Law/Sharia Law.
