Kanuri at University of Maiduguri (MAIDUGURI): Admission Requirements
Contents
The University of Maiduguri (MAIDUGURI) is the institution listed for the exact Kanuri programme in the JAMB Art/Humanities admission brochure. The same course table separately lists Linguistics and Kanuri, so applicants should make sure they are applying for the correct programme.
UTME Subjects for Kanuri
For the JAMB UTME, the Kanuri entry requires Literature in English and any other two subjects in Arts and the Social Sciences.
The wording allows the two additional subjects to be selected from the stated Arts and Social Sciences categories rather than prescribing two fixed subjects.
O'Level Requirements
Candidates need five (5) SSC credit passes, with the required credits including:
- English Language
- Literature in English
- Three other subjects to complete the five required credits
The course entry specifically states that the five SSC credits must include English Language and Literature in English.
Direct Entry Route
The general Direct Entry requirement attached to the Kanuri entry includes two A' Level passes to include Literature in English and also states two A' Level passes in Arts Subjects.
Maiduguri's Special Consideration
There is an additional institution-specific provision for Maiduguri. The brochure says that Maiduguri accepts a Certificate in Kanuri and NCE with Kanuri major for Direct Entry.
This special consideration is particularly useful for candidates who already have a qualification specifically connected with Kanuri. It should not, however, be transferred to other programmes simply because they are language-related.
