Literature in English O'Level requirements for Art/Humanities admission

The JAMB admission information lists Literature in English under Arts/Humanities, but the visible course row does not present one standalone O'Level requirement that can safely be applied to every institution listed for the programme.

The document instead gives a number of institution-specific O'Level conditions. Candidates should therefore check the condition attached to their chosen institution instead of assuming that one requirement applies to all schools.

Examples of the Institution-Specific Conditions

  • CHRISTOPHER: maximum of two sittings.
  • FED-OYE EKITI: five credits including English Language and Literature in English, plus at least a pass in Mathematics.
  • KASU: five O'Level credit passes including English Language, Mathematics and Literature in English, plus two other subjects in Arts or Social Sciences.
  • PAAU: five O'Level credit passes including English Language and Literature in English, with three other subjects from Arts or Social Sciences.
  • NDU: five O'Level credit passes in English Language and Literature in English plus three other subjects, two of which must be Arts subjects.
  • UNN: requires a Science subject in the stated O'Level condition.
  • LCITY: five credit passes including English Language, Literature in English and three Arts subjects.
  • UNIHEZ: five SSC credit passes including Literature in English and English Language, with a pass in Mathematics required.
  • ABU: five O'Level credit passes including Literature in English and English Language.
  • RSU: five O'Level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics and Literature in English plus two other subjects.

Check Your Result Against Your Chosen School

The variations above are important. For example, the Mathematics condition at one institution should not automatically be presented as a universal requirement for every Literature in English candidate.

The safest approach is to identify the exact institution and compare your SSCE result with the institution-specific condition provided in the JAMB admission information.
