Arabic Studies Direct Entry Requirements for DE Candidates

Arabic Studies Direct Entry Requirements
Direct Entry is designed for candidates who already possess an appropriate higher qualification and want to enter university through the DE route. For Arabic Studies, the relevant qualification must satisfy the conditions attached to the programme.
General Direct Entry Qualification
The general Direct Entry requirement provides for two A' Level passes in Arabic and any other Arts subject.
This gives preference to candidates whose previous academic preparation is connected with Arabic and the Arts.
Other Qualifications
The admission information also provides institution-specific acceptance of qualifications such as NCE, ND, IJMB, Cambridge qualifications and relevant diplomas. The grade and subject area required depend on the institution.
Why DE Candidates Must Check Their Institution
Direct Entry requirements are not identical across every school. A qualification that is acceptable at one institution may have a different condition elsewhere.
Examples of Institution-Specific DE Conditions
- Ahmadu Bello University accepts specified A' Level/IJMB, NCE and Diploma routes in Arabic.
- University of Abuja requires a minimum of ten points in NCE or ND Upper Credit in addition to the O'Level requirements.
- University of Ilorin accepts relevant A' Level, NCE and diploma routes under its stated conditions.
- Kaduna State University accepts relevant NCE, A' Level, IJMB and ND qualifications under specified grades.
- Kwara State University accepts IJMB, Cambridge, NCE and SISC.
- Lagos State University accepts relevant A' Level and NCE qualifications and also recognises certain Arabic-institution qualifications under its conditions.
O'Level Still Matters
Having a higher qualification does not automatically remove every other admission condition. Candidates should check the O'Level requirement applicable to their chosen institution as well.
For the complete Direct Entry conditions, candidates should consult the document below and compare their qualification with the requirement of their preferred school.
