Arabic Studies O'Level Requirements
UTME candidates need more than the correct JAMB combination to qualify for admission into Arabic Studies. Their SSCE result must also contain the required credit passes.
Five Credit Passes
The general requirement for Arabic Studies is five SSCE credit passes. These credits must include the subjects required for the course.
English Language and Arabic
English Language and Arabic are specifically required. Candidates should therefore examine their SSCE result and make sure both subjects are properly represented.
Three Other Relevant Subjects
The remaining three credits should be in relevant subjects. The general course requirement identifies relevant Arts or related subjects for completing the five credits.
Why the Subject Mix Matters
Having five credits is not, by itself, enough to determine eligibility. The actual subjects in the result matter because admission requirements are tied to particular areas of study.
Institutional Variations
Some schools have additional conditions. Federal University Kashere, for example, requires English, Mathematics, Arabic and two subjects from Arts and Social Science areas. Kaduna State University also requires English Language, Mathematics, Arabic and two other Arts or Social Science subjects.
Other institutions may have their own additional requirements, so candidates should check the school-specific section before applying.
Check Your Result Carefully
- English Language is present.
- Arabic is present.
- The remaining required credits are available.
- Any additional Mathematics requirement of the preferred school is satisfied.
- The result meets the applicable sitting condition.
For further details on the different institutional requirements, candidates should review the document below before making their final admission decision.
