Archaeology special consideration and waiver requirements for university admission

Archaeology Special Consideration and Waiver Requirements

Admission requirements can include conditions that apply to particular universities or categories of applicants. For Archaeology, the relevant special considerations are connected with the individual university conditions and candidates combining Archaeology with other programmes.

Special Consideration at Ahmadu Bello University

ABU accepts two A' Level or IJMB passes in Geography, Biology, History or any other subject. NCE with a minimum of Merit is also accepted, as well as an ABU Diploma in related subjects.

Special Consideration at the University of Ibadan

The University of Ibadan accepts A' Level passes in any two Arts subjects for Archaeology.

Special Consideration at the University of Jos

The University of Jos accepts NCE Merit or ND Lower Credit for Archaeology.

Special Consideration at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka

UNN requires two A' Level passes or ND/HND Credit or NCE Merit together with the applicable UTME requirements.

Condition for Candidates Combining Archaeology With Other Programmes

Candidates combining Archaeology with Science or Social Sciences must satisfy the requirements applicable to the respective programmes.

This means that candidates applying for a combined programme should not consider the Archaeology requirement alone. The requirements of the respective programme must also be satisfied.

Why These Conditions Matter

The special conditions differ between universities. A qualification or condition applicable to one institution should not automatically be treated as applicable to another institution.

Candidates should therefore identify their preferred university and admission route before relying on a university-specific condition.

Important Points to Check

  • ABU has specific conditions for A' Level or IJMB, NCE and an ABU Diploma in related subjects.
  • The University of Ibadan accepts A' Level passes in any two Arts subjects.
  • The University of Jos accepts NCE Merit or ND Lower Credit.
  • UNN accepts two A' Level passes, ND/HND Credit or NCE Merit together with the applicable UTME requirements.
  • Candidates combining Archaeology with Science or Social Sciences must satisfy the requirements applicable to the respective programmes.

Final Advice

Candidates should check the condition applicable to their preferred university and admission route instead of assuming that the same special consideration applies everywhere.
