Direct Entry qualifications for Banking and Finance

Which Qualifications Are Relevant?

Direct Entry admission into Banking/Finance is designed for candidates who already have qualifications beyond the ordinary secondary-school level. Depending on the university, the recognised route may involve A' Level passes, NCE, ND, HND or professional qualifications.

A' Level Qualifications

Some institutions accept A' Level passes in subjects such as Accounting and Economics, sometimes alongside another relevant subject. The required subjects and grades must be checked against the particular institution.

ND and HND

National Diploma and Higher National Diploma holders may qualify where the qualification is in Banking and Finance or another relevant discipline. The required grade can range from lower credit to higher levels depending on the institution.

NCE

Some universities accept NCE at a specified grade in relevant subjects. The fact that an NCE is accepted by one institution does not mean it automatically applies everywhere.

Professional Qualifications

Certain institutions recognise professional qualifications connected with banking, accounting or finance. These may include qualifications from recognised professional bodies where specifically stated by the institution.

For this reason, Direct Entry candidates should look beyond the name of their qualification and check the exact subject area, grade and additional UTME or O'Level conditions attached to their university of choice.
