O'Level Requirements for Christian Religious Knowledge/Studies
Having the correct UTME subjects is not enough to secure admission. Candidates must also make sure that their O'Level result contains the subjects and credits required for Christian Religious Knowledge/Studies at their chosen institution.
General Credit Requirement
The general requirement is five O'Level credit passes. These should include English Language and Christian Religious Studies, while the remaining credits should come from relevant subjects.
English Language
English Language is an essential part of the general requirement. Candidates should check their WAEC, NECO, NABTEB or other accepted result and confirm that the required credit has been obtained.
Christian Religious Studies
CRS is another important subject for the programme. Candidates should ensure that their result contains the required credit where the institution specifies it as part of the admission condition.
Other Subjects
The remaining three credits are generally expected to come from relevant Arts or related subjects. The exact subjects accepted can vary between institutions, so candidates should check the requirements of their preferred school.
Some Schools Have Additional Conditions
The brochure shows that certain institutions introduce additional requirements. For example, Kaduna State University requires Mathematics alongside English Language, CRS and two other Arts or Social Science subjects. Other schools may have their own subject or sitting conditions.
What to Check on Your Result
- English Language credit
- CRS credit
- Three other relevant credits
- Required Mathematics credit where the institution specifies it
- Accepted number of sittings
Why Individual Subjects Matter
A candidate can have five credits and still fail to satisfy a particular course requirement if the necessary subjects are missing. This is why checking the actual subjects is more useful than simply counting the number of credits.
Before Choosing Your Institution
The document provided below contains the relevant admission information and institution-specific conditions. Candidates should use it to compare their O'Level result with the school they intend to select.
A Final Result Check
Review your SSCE result carefully before registration. Confirm English Language, CRS and the other relevant subjects, then check whether your preferred university has added any condition.
