Direct Entry Requirements for Public Administration
Direct Entry requirements for Public Administration vary between universities. Depending on the institution, candidates may be considered with relevant A’ Level, IJMB, NCE, ND or HND qualifications in appropriate subjects or programmes.
University-Specific Direct Entry Requirements
Ahmadu Bello University (ABU)
ABU accepts two A’ Level/IJMB passes in Economics and Government/History. ABU Diploma in Public Administration, Local Government and Development Studies and Office System Management with a minimum of Merit is also accepted.
Adamawa State University (ADSU)
ADSU accepts HND, ND or NCE at Credit/Merit level in appropriate programmes or subjects.
Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU)
COOU accepts NCE in Government or ND Lower Credit in Public Administration.
Ebonyi State University (EBSU)
EBSU accepts HND, ND or NCE pass at Credit/Merit level in relevant programmes or subjects in addition to the O’Level requirements. ND must be at Upper Credit level.
University of Ilorin
The University of Ilorin accepts ND Upper Credit in Public Administration or Local Government Studies and HND Lower Credit or Advanced Diploma in Public Administration from accredited tertiary institutions, in addition to meeting the UTME requirements.
Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU)
OAU accepts three A’ Level passes plus the UTME requirements in Economics, Government or History and Geography. It also accepts ND Upper Credit in Public Administration, Business Administration, Statistics and Accountancy or University Diploma with Merit in Public Administration or Local Government.
Usmanu Danfodiyo University (UDU)
UDU accepts ND Lower Credit in Public Administration. History/Social Studies or Sociology may be accepted in lieu of Government.
Mountain Top University
Mountain Top University accepts a minimum of two relevant subjects at GCE Advanced Level or Foundation/JUPEB obtained from Mountain Top University or other recognised universities, in addition to the O’Level requirements.
University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN)
UNN accepts Direct Entry candidates for a three-year programme. Candidates may qualify with two A’ Level passes or their equivalents in Government/History, Economics, Business Management, Accounting and Geography plus the UTME requirements; HND Lower Credit from recognised institutions plus the UTME requirements; or ND/HND Credit in Public Administration.
Government is not a prerequisite for three-year Direct Entry candidates.
Caritas University
Caritas University accepts two A’ Level passes chosen from Economics, Accounting, Business Management, Government, History and Mathematics/Further Mathematics. It also accepts ND in Public Administration, Political Science, Secretarial Studies (now Office System/Technological Management), and NCE Merit in Government or its equivalent with UTME entry requirements.
Nasarawa State University, Keffi
Nasarawa State University accepts two A’ Level or IJMB passes chosen from Accounts, Business Management, Government and Statistics; NCE Government or ND Public Administration with Merit/Lower Credit.
