English Language Direct Entry Requirements for Art/Humanities Candidates

The general Direct Entry requirement for English Language is two A' Level passes to include Literature in English and one other Arts subject. The brochure also provides institution-specific Direct Entry conditions that can change the qualification accepted by a particular school.
General Direct Entry Requirement
A candidate using the general English Language Direct Entry entry should have two A' Level passes including Literature in English and one other Arts subject, alongside any other conditions applicable to the institution.
Examples of Institution-Specific Conditions
- AAU: ND credit in Mass Communication.
- ABU: two A' Level passes including English at IJMB/NCE, or a minimum of Merit in Diploma; Diploma candidates must also possess a pass in Literature in English.
- AJAYI: two A' Level passes or equivalent in Literature in English and another Arts subject, plus three O'Level credit passes.
- AUE: NCE Merit or ND credit plus the UTME requirements.
- AL-HIKMAH: two A' Level passes including Literature in English.
- AUGUSTINE: NCE Merit or HND credit in addition to UTME requirements.
- BIU: two A' Level passes in relevant subjects, NCE Merit in three subjects or ND credit in relevant programmes, plus UTME requirements.
- FED-DUTSE: NCE with English as the main subject with minimum Merit in each of the three main subjects; IJMB with minimum nine points in Literature in English, one Arts-related subject and one Social Science-related subject; or a qualifying Diploma with English as a main subject at minimum Credit.
- ILORIN: at least two A' Level passes including Literature in English and another Arts or Social Science subject, or NCE with English Major.
- LAGOS: very good passes in three JUPEB/A' Level subjects, including Literature in English and any two of the listed Arts subjects.
- NILE: any two A' Level passes in Arts or Social Science subjects, ND/HND Lower Credit or NCE Merit in relevant programmes/subjects.
- IMSU: no Direct Entry.
- PLASU: specified Degree, HND, ND or IJMB routes, subject to the UTME requirements stated in the brochure.
- UMYUK: minimum nine points in IJMB/HSC/GCE A' Level/NCE in English or English Literature and another relevant subject, with a Lower Credit Diploma route also stated.
- UNIOSUN: two A' Level passes including Literature in English and other Arts subjects, or NCE in English and another Arts subject.
- UYO: minimum nine points with two or three GCE A' Level subjects or equivalent, with NCE/GCE A' Level routes in English Language and Literature in English also stated.
Additional Institutional Routes
The brochure also provides special Direct Entry conditions for EUI, MOUNTAIN TOP, IAUED, FED-WUKARI, PHC, FED-KASHERE, RSU, SOSU and FED-LOKOJA, among others. These conditions should be read under the particular institution rather than treated as universal requirements.
