Direct Entry Admission for Fine Art/Fine and Applied Arts
Candidates who already possess relevant advanced qualifications may apply for Fine Arts/Fine and Applied Arts through the Direct Entry route, subject to the conditions of their chosen institution.
General Direct Entry Requirement
The general requirement listed for Fine Arts/Fine and Applied Arts includes:
- Two A' Level passes in Arts or Fine Arts and any other subject.
- ND upper credit or HND lower credit from recognised institutions.
The JAMB brochure attaches these qualifications to the Fine Arts/Fine and Applied Arts entry.
Institution-Specific Direct Entry Conditions
Individual universities may specify additional or alternative qualifications.
University of Benin, for example, requires A' Level passes in Fine Arts and other subjects, with Literature in English included, and accepts ND upper credit or HND lower credit in Fine Arts subjects from recognised institutions.
UNN requires three GCE A' Level passes in Fine Arts or Technical Drawing together with the UTME requirements. The brochure also gives a provision for HND holders with an average of B grade, alongside the UTME requirements.
DELSU accepts an OND in Fine Art with at least credit, a Diploma in Fine and Applied Arts from DELSU with at least merit, or A' Level passes in Fine and Applied Arts and at least one other subject.
Direct Entry Candidates Should Be Careful
A qualification that is accepted by one university may not automatically satisfy the conditions of another. Candidates should therefore identify their preferred institution first and compare their qualification with the exact Direct Entry requirement.
