German O'Level Requirements for Art/Humanities Admission
Contents
Candidates seeking admission to study German should carefully check their O'Level results against the requirements listed for the programme. The German entry in the JAMB brochure specifies the subjects that should be covered at SSCE level.
SSCE Requirements for German
The general requirement is five SSCE credit passes to include French, English Language and any three other subjects.
- French
- English Language
- Three other subjects
What This Means for Candidates
The requirement specifically includes French and English Language. The remaining three subjects form part of the five-credit requirement and should be considered alongside the conditions applicable to the university selected.
Institution-Specific Considerations
The German entry also contains special information for individual institutions. For example, Lagos requires five O'Level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics and any three Arts or Social Sciences. The same provision notes that Civic Education and Computer Studies are also accepted.
For Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), an O'Level credit pass in German is not compulsory. This is an important distinction for candidates applying to OAU.
University of Ibadan (IBADAN) is also listed for German, and the institution-specific entry should be checked carefully rather than assuming that another university's special condition applies to it.
Before You Apply
Do not treat the general O'Level requirement as a substitute for institution-specific conditions. Candidates should compare their SSCE subjects with the requirements attached to their preferred university.
