Hausa Direct Entry Requirements: Qualifications for Art/Humanities Candidates

Direct Entry candidates applying for Hausa need to pay attention to the qualification and grade conditions of their chosen institution. The JAMB brochure lists a general Direct Entry requirement and additional conditions for specific universities.
General Direct Entry Requirement
The general Direct Entry requirement for Hausa is two A' Level passes in Hausa and any other relevant subjects.
Institution-Specific Direct Entry Conditions
Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) accepts two A' Level passes including Hausa at IJMB/NCE, or a minimum of Merit at Diploma in Hausa or with other subjects. General English/Use of English at NCE satisfies the O'Level English requirement.
Bayero University, University of Maiduguri and Usmanu Danfodiyo University accept NCE with Hausa major.
Umaru Musa Yar'Adua University accepts candidates with a minimum of 9 points in IJMB/HSC/GCE A' Level/NCE in Hausa and any other Arts or Social Science subject. A candidate with at least Lower Credit in Diploma in Hausa from a recognised institution may also be admitted.
Federal University Kashere accepts two A' Level credit passes in Hausa and any other Arts subject.
Kaduna State University accepts two A' Level/IJMB passes in Hausa and any other relevant subject. It also accepts NCE Merit and ND/HND in Hausa Translation or its equivalent at Lower Credit, in addition to the general O'Level requirements.
Sokoto State University accepts a minimum of Merit in NCE or at least Lower Credit in Diploma in Mass Communication or Translation.
Federal University Dutsin-Ma accepts two A' Level passes in Hausa and one other Arts subject, as well as ND/NCE with good grades in the relevant area.
Keep Direct Entry Separate from UTME
Direct Entry candidates should not use the UTME subject combination as a substitute for the DE qualification. The qualification, grade and subject conditions should be checked specifically for the institution being selected.
