History Direct Entry Requirements for Art/Humanities Candidates
Contents
The general Direct Entry requirement shown for History is two A' Level passes in History and any other related subjects. The brochure then provides additional conditions for several individual institutions.
General Direct Entry Requirement
The basic requirement listed in the History entry is:
- Two A' Level passes in History and any other related subjects
Institution-Specific Direct Entry Conditions
The requirements differ substantially across some of the universities. ABU accepts two A' Level passes including History at IJMB or NCE, while General English/Use of English at NCE satisfies the O'Level English requirement.
ABUJA accepts ND lower credit with the UTME requirements plus two years post-qualification, a minimum of 10 points in NCE or ND Upper Credit in addition to the UTME requirements, or two A' Level passes including History or Government and one other Arts subject.
BENIN accepts an A' Level pass in Government in lieu of History and NCE credit in History, Government or Social Studies. FED-DUTSINMA accepts two A' Level passes in History or/and Government and another related subject, as well as OND/NCE with good grades in a relevant area.
Further Qualifications Accepted by Some Institutions
The brochure also lists several institution-specific routes, including NCE, IJMB, ND, HND and Diploma qualifications. For example, FED-LAFIA accepts IJMB with a minimum of 9 points, NCE with a minimum of Merit in History or another relevant course, and Diploma/OND with a minimum of Lower Credit in History or another relevant course/HND.
KASU accepts two A' Level passes including History/Government and any Arts subject, NCE Merit, 7 points and above in IJMB/GCE Advanced Level, and Upper Credit ND/HND Lower Credit in History or related fields.
SOSU accepts two Merit passes at NCE, one of which must be History, and a Diploma in Arts or Social Science at Lower Credit level.
Other Direct Entry Conditions
The brochure also states that IBADAN accepts two A' Level/NCE passes in History and any other related subject; SAU accepts two A' Level passes in History and Government or NCE credit in relevant subjects; and NAUB requires two A' Level passes in History and another related subject.
Because these conditions are institution-specific, Direct Entry candidates should not assume that a qualification accepted by one university is automatically accepted by every other university offering History.
For the complete Direct Entry conditions, candidates should examine the admission document below.
