Igbo O'Level Requirements for Art/Humanities Admission
Contents
Candidates seeking admission to study Igbo should make sure their O'Level subjects match the structure provided for the programme. The JAMB admission information gives a five-credit requirement for the course.
O'Level Subjects Required for Igbo
The brochure requires five (5) SSCE credit passes to include:
- Igbo
- English Language
- Any other Arts subject
The remaining credits are therefore to be completed in accordance with the full five-credit requirement and the institution-specific conditions applicable to the candidate. The general Igbo entry explicitly states that the five SSCE credits must include Igbo, English Language and another Arts subject.
Why the Exact Subjects Matter
Igbo is the language-specific subject in the requirement, while English Language is also expressly included. Candidates should not replace these with subjects from another course simply because the other programme is also under Arts/Humanities.
Institutional Differences
The brochure contains additional institution-specific admission remarks in the Igbo entry. Candidates should therefore check the requirements applicable to the particular institution they intend to choose rather than assuming that every institution applies exactly the same condition.
For example, the special consideration for the University of Ibadan refers to NCE merit/credit in Igbo and another Arts or Social Sciences subject for Direct Entry candidates, while other institution-specific conditions are also stated in the same admission entry.

Before Registration
Compare your O'Level result with the course requirement before making your institution choice. Where a university has a specific additional condition, that institution's requirement should be followed.
