Islamic Studies UTME Subject Combination in Art/Humanities
For the general Islamic Studies entry, the JAMB brochure lists Islamic Studies plus two other Arts subjects as the UTME subject combination.
The General Combination
- Islamic Studies
- One other Arts subject
- Another Arts subject
The course-specific entry therefore centres on Islamic Studies and two additional Arts subjects. Candidates should also follow the general JAMB requirement applicable to Use of English when registering for UTME.
Institution-Specific UTME Variations
The brochure shows that some institutions have additional or different subject conditions. These differences should not be merged into the general combination.
- University of Ibadan: Islamic Studies and any other two subjects from Arts, Sciences or Social Sciences.
- University of Ilorin: accepts Science/Social Science subjects.
- University of Maiduguri: Islamic Studies/Arabic and any other two subjects.
- Umaru Musa Yar'Adua University: Islamic Studies and two other Arts or Social Science subjects.
- University of Lagos: English Language, Islamic Studies and any two from Literature in English, History, Government, French, Yoruba, Igbo, Visual Arts, Economics and Commerce.
- Federal University of Kashere: IRS and any two of Hausa, Arabic, Government, Economics, Literature in English and History.
- Kaduna State University: Islamic Religious Knowledge and two other subjects in Arts or Social Sciences.
- Southwestern University, Nigeria: Islamic Studies and any two Arts or Social Science subjects.
- Federal University Dutsin-Ma: English Language, Islamic Studies and any two subjects from Arts or Social Sciences.
These variations are particularly important because the course may have a broad general combination while a particular institution specifies its own acceptable subjects.
Before Choosing Your Subjects
Do not assume that a combination accepted by one university automatically applies to another. The institution-specific conditions in the JAMB admission information should guide candidates who are targeting a particular university.
