O'Level Subjects Needed for Banking/Finance
General O'Level Requirement
The general requirement listed for Banking/Finance is five SSC credit passes. These must include English Language and Mathematics, together with other relevant subjects.
For NBC candidates, the brochure specifically identifies Accounting, Principles of Accounts, Commerce, Office Practice and Economics among the subjects that may provide the other relevant credits.
What This Means for Candidates
English Language and Mathematics are particularly important because they are expressly included in the general requirement. Candidates should then make sure the remaining credits satisfy the relevant subject conditions of their chosen institution.
It is important not to assume that every university will interpret the general requirement in exactly the same way. Some institutions have additional O'Level conditions, particularly concerning Economics or other Social Science subjects.
Before Applying
Check your WAEC, NECO, NABTEB or other accepted SSC results against the requirements of the institution you intend to choose. Where a university has a special condition, that condition should be followed rather than relying only on the general Banking/Finance requirement.
The brochure's general Banking/Finance requirement states five SSC credit passes including English Language and Mathematics and identifies relevant NBC subjects separately.
