Direct Entry Admission for Yoruba
The general Direct Entry requirement shown for Yoruba is two A' Level passes to include Yoruba or Literature in English.
As with the other admission conditions, some institutions have additional Direct Entry provisions. Candidates applying through Direct Entry should therefore check the requirement attached to their preferred institution.
Institution-Specific Direct Entry Conditions
- University of Ibadan accepts two A' Level passes to include Yoruba and another Arts or Social Science subject. It also accepts NCE credit/merit in Yoruba and another Arts or Social Science subject.
- Obafemi Awolowo University accepts NCE merit in Yoruba.
- University of Lagos accepts very good passes in three JUPEB/A' Level subjects in Yoruba/Igbo and any two of History, CRS/IRS, French, Government, Music, Visual Arts and Literature in English. It also accepts NCE (Merit) in two subjects to include a Nigerian Language.
- University of Ilorin requires at least two A' Level passes to include Yoruba and any other Arts/Social Science subject. It also accepts NCE/Diploma (Upper Credit) in Yoruba and a Social Science subject.
What Direct Entry Candidates Should Check
The qualifications accepted for Direct Entry are not identical across all the institutions listed for Yoruba. A candidate with an A' Level, NCE or Diploma qualification should therefore match the qualification against the exact university's condition.
The distinction is especially important for candidates applying to institutions such as Lagos, where the admission information specifies particular JUPEB/A' Level subjects and an NCE condition involving a Nigerian Language.
