Yoruba UTME Subject Combination in Art/Humanities

JAMB UTME Subjects for Yoruba
The general UTME subject combination shown for Yoruba is Yoruba and any two other subjects in Arts or Social Sciences.
This gives candidates three UTME subjects for the course: Yoruba as the specified subject, followed by two subjects selected from the Arts or Social Sciences.
Institution-Specific UTME Conditions
The general combination is not necessarily applied in exactly the same wording by every institution. The admission information provides additional institution-specific conditions for some universities.
- University of Ibadan requires Yoruba and two other subjects in Arts or Social Sciences.
- Obafemi Awolowo University requires three subjects from Arts and/or Social Sciences.
- Olabisi Onabanjo University requires Yoruba and two Arts subjects.
- University of Ilorin requires Yoruba and two other subjects in Arts/Social Science.
- University of Lagos requires English Language and any three Arts, Science or Social Sciences.
What This Means for Candidates
Candidates should not assume that one institution's UTME condition automatically applies to every school offering Yoruba. The specific university's entry information should be checked carefully before JAMB registration.
For example, the University of Lagos has a different UTME subject requirement from the general Yoruba combination, while OAU allows three subjects from Arts and/or Social Sciences.
Before Registering for JAMB
- Confirm Yoruba as the intended course.
- Check the exact university you want to apply to.
- Use that institution's stated UTME subject requirement.
- Do not confuse Yoruba with Linguistics/Yoruba or Yoruba and Communication.
