French O'Level requirements for Art/Humanities admission

SSCE Subjects Needed for French

The JAMB brochure lists the general O'Level requirement for French as five SSCE credit passes, including French and English Language, plus one other Arts subject.

  • French
  • English Language
  • One other Arts subject
  • Other required SSCE credits making up the five-credit requirement

Why French Is Important at O'Level

Unlike some courses where French may simply be an optional subject, the general French entry in the brochure specifically includes French among the required SSCE credits. Candidates should therefore pay close attention to this condition before applying.

English Language and the Arts Subject

English Language is also part of the stated requirement, while the brochure requires one other Arts subject. Candidates should not confuse this O'Level structure with the UTME combination because the two requirements serve different purposes.

Institution-Specific Conditions

The brochure contains additional provisions for particular institutions. For example, the individual entries include special Direct Entry and O'Level considerations for some universities. Candidates should therefore check the school-specific article for their preferred institution rather than relying only on the general course requirement.
